AMISTAD

The story of Amistad, the famous slave revolt (La Amistad, the Spanish word for friendship), centers on the legal status of Africans caught and brought to America on a Spanish slave ship in 1839. The trials of Amistad focused on the legality of slaves and what constituted freedom in the United States. This production was written and directed by Hugo Sayles and premiered at the Aurora Fox Theatre, 9900 E. Colfax Avenue, February 3 and 4, 2006 and again in 2007 directed by Chris Tabb.

BOETTCHER AURORA BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB

The Grand Design Chorale hosts its annual Anniversary Concert and Performing Artists Tribute honoring unsung community performing artists and thanking supporters of Grand Design Inc., at the Aurora Fox Theatre, 9900 E. Colfax Avenue. The concert attracts 200 community members. It would be remiss not to spotlight the work of Grand Design soloists and musicians. The Grand Design Chorale members have faithfully performed without compensation for over 13-years. The honoraria from their performances have supported other programs of Grand Design Inc.

SUITE MOSES

Tells the Biblical Exodus of Moses through music associated with the African American experience and correlating historical parallels to three other major faiths: Christianity, Islam and Judaism. An annual event, SUITE MOSES appeals to a cross section of cultures and faiths. SM1 premiered in 2001. Our programs and performances have reached thousands of audience members from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds. We believe that our persistent efforts truly have a positive impact on making Aurora and the Denver metropolitan area a better place to live; a place in which cultural differences are explored and embraced rather than feared and ignored.
